Apophis Flyby

Apophis Flyby

On Wednesday night, the asteroid Apophis (pictured in an artist's rendering) is flying past Earth, and you can view its passage online at the Slooh space camera's website. Astronomers have calculated that there's a slight chance the large space rock could hit us in 2036 on one of its return visits. The asteroid was named after Apophis, an Egyptian demon of destruction and darkness.
