Did Ancient Asteroid Yield Acid Rain?

Did Ancient Asteroid Yield Acid Rain?

A new study on the asteroid impact believed to have caused the mass extinction of the dinosaurs has revealed a potential additional layer of devastation from the catastrophic event. Researchers at the Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan theorize that a chemical reaction caused by the impact would have created an intense amount of acid rain to wash over the Earth. The deadly downpour likely contributed to the disaster by wiping out aquatic species near the top layer of the ocean and in smaller bodies of water like rivers and lakes. More on the story at LiveScience.
