Giant Snails

Giant Snails

A giant African snail was recently discovered in Brisbane, Australia, and destroyed. The concern over the creatures, which can grow up to a foot in length and weigh 2 pounds, is that they are invasive pests, with an insatiable appetite for more than 500 types of crops. The snails, which have no known predators, were found in Florida in 2011, and more than 40,000 of them were collected by the Dept. of Agriculture. More at Christian Science Monitor and Motherboard.
