Go Fly an Electric Kite
Dutch scientists have demonstrated that flying a 10-square-meter kite tethered to a generator can supply 10 kilowatts of power -- enough electricity for about 10 houses. The researchers, from the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands, plan to test a 50-kilowatt version as well as construct a system with multiple high-flying kites that could generate 100 megawatts.
