LADEE Gets to Work

NASA's Lunar probe, dubbed LADEE, has begun its mission to study the moon's atmosphere and dust. The craft actually began orbiting the moon on October 6th, but required an additional six weeks of intricate maneuvers to ultimately arrive in the specific orbital location required for its scientific tests. Optimistic scientists expect the moon to rife with human activity in the not-too-distant future and, thus, see LADEE's work as perhaps a final glimpse at the lunar atmosphere before external, man-made forces disrupt the environment there. More on the story at Universe Today.
