Legends of Mount Shasta

Mount Shasta, located in the Cascade Range in Northern California, has long been the subject of various myths and lore. In addition to the tale of British prospector JC Brown discovering a lost underground city there, some Native Americans believe Shasta is inhabited by a spirit chief who descended from heaven to the mountain's summit. New Age fascination with Shasta began with the publication of the book A Dweller on Two Worlds, which proposed that Lemurians migrated there after their continent sank, and moved into tunnels.
