Solar photographer Alan Freidman produced an out-of-this-world image of the solar surface during the Transit of Venus. The breathtaking close-up view shows the sun's turbulent sea of fire in outstanding detail. The planet Venus can be seen silhouetted against the swirling maelstrom. Freidman captured the remarkable image from the Mount Wilson Observatory near Los Angeles, California. More at the Daily Mail.
