The Unkillable Tardigrade

This week NASA selected a photo of one of Earth's weirdest creatures as its Astronomy Picture of the Day. The millimeter-long tardigrade can live for decades without food or water, survive radiation exposure, and endure extreme temperatures and pressure. In 2011, the hardiness of these organisms was tested when scientists attached them to the outside of a spacecraft. More at Popular Science.
