Giant Sea Creatures

Scientists have found extraordinarily large sea creatures living in New Zealand's Antarctic waters. Giant sea snails, jellyfish with 12-foot-long tentacles and 2-foot-wide starfish (pictured) were some of the species found during a 50-day research voyage. More info and photos at Telegraph.co.uk.

Arthur C. Clarke Dies at 90

Legendary science-fiction author Arthur C. Clarke, has passed away at age 90 in Sri Lanka. One of his works was made into the classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey. For remembrances of his life, see BBC News, The Times, and Ars Technica. First hour guest, Richard C. Hoagland discussed Clarke's life and work, and shared some of his personal experiences with him. Clarke gave us the future as we could have it, if we have the courage to demand it, he commented.

Pasco County UFO Tape

Some residents of Pasco County, Florida (Tampa Bay area) saw an unidentified flying object early Friday. A video tape taken by Luis Jimenez shows a rotating triangle of three white lights with a single flashing red light. More at MyFox Tampa Bay.

Seemingly immune to frostbite or hypothermia, Win Hof has amazed scientists by continually facing the rigors of extreme cold and surviving unscathed. Hof, the holder of nine Guinness World Records, was recently profiled by ABC News in an article that includes video of his latest feat: standing neck-deep in ice for over an hour.

Clocks Forward Tonight

Don't forget to move your clocks forward one hour tonight. This year, Daylight Saving Time begins at 2am on Sunday, March 9, 2008 and will end at 2am on Sunday, November 2, 2008. The rationale for the annual switchover is to shift extra sunlight into the evening and cut down on the demand for lighting/electricity. Visit MSNBC for more info, including a video report.

'Supernatural' Photos

A collection of photographs from the early 20th centuryshowing alleged supernatural phenomena including ectoplasm was recently made available for viewing on YouTube.Paranormal investigators Dr. T.G. Talking 'Baby' Robot

Robotics experts at the University of Plymouth are preparing to start a four-year project to teach a "baby" robot called iCub how to talk. The project could lead to the development of humanoid robots capable of learning, thinking and talking."The outcome of the research will define the scientific and technological requirements for the design of humanoid robots able to develop complex behavioral, thinking and communication skills through individual and social learning," said Angelo Cangelosi, Professor in Artificial Intelligence. Planet X Projection

Scientists at Kobe University in Japan believe that a 'Planet X,' up to two-thirds the size of the Earth, is orbiting the far reaches of our solar system. Though their calculations are based on computer-models, they suggested it's only a matter of time before such a planet was definitively located. More here.

The Venus Collision

A huge collision between two proto-planets could have created Venus as we know it, according to new scientific research. Sometimes described as "Earth's evil twin," Venus' extreme differences from our planet might have been brought about by this mega-impact. More at ScienceDaily.

The Ararat Anomaly

Over the years, researchers such as Porcher Taylor have claimed that an anomaly high on Mt. Ararat in Turkey may be the remains of Noah's Ark. The anomaly was imaged by DigitalGlobe's satellite and the photos were unveiled in 2006. You can view them at Space.com, along with analysis.

Sunday marks the 66th anniversary of the infamous "Battle of L.A." UFO case. Greg Bishop re-examines the event at UFO Mystic, including the original radio report of the encounter from 1942.

The Hunt for D.B. Cooper

Appearing in the first two hours, attorney Galen Cook gave an update on his investigation of D.B. Cooper, the infamous hijacker who on November 24, 1971 parachuted from an airliner with $200,000 in ransom and was never seen again.Cook provided another photo of the D.B. Cooper suspect (middle top, larger). For comparison, it is pictured next to FBI composite drawings (left and right, modified by C2C listener Kent B.) as well as a photo previously provided by Cook of the Cooper suspect (middle bottom). Click here for larger images and more info.The new photo shows a "Jump Wings" insignia pinned above the suspect's military ribbons, Cook explained, noting the suspect had parachute experience. He also said the suspect's eldest son recalls his father doing night HALO (high-altitude, low-opening) jump training. Cook briefly discussed a thumbprint from the suspect's military records as well.

The 'Devil Frog'
