Tonight's guest, Hank Wesselman Ph.D., teaches shamanism workshops across the country. "Shamans are men and women who can achieve expanded states of awareness in which they can perceive and communicate in ways not possible in our ordinary waking state of consciousness," Wesselman explained in an interview with Deepak Chopra. In traditional cultures, shamans often help to heal community members who are suffering from either physical or psychological maladies. Referring to shamans as "spiritual activists," Wesselman said their work is often accomplished with the aid of guardian spirit helpers. From the shamanistic perspective illnesses don't really come from bacteria and microbes, but rather from three internal states: disharmony, fear and soul loss. "Soul loss is regarded as the most serious diagnosis and the single greatest cause of premature death or serious illness," Wesselman said. A person might lose an element of their soul after undergoing severe trauma such as from an a
Riley Martin documents his long standing relationship with aliens in his book "The Coming of Tan." In it, he describes his experiences with telepathic entities named the "Biaviians" who are around 4-ft. tall with large heads, long arms and delicate 4-fingered hands. While the "grey" aliens with their egg-shaped heads and spindly bodies are the type most often described in recent times, reports of visitors have come in all shapes and sizes over the years. Here is a sampling of descriptions that were made in the context of UFO sightings: Pascagoula, Miss.-- 1973, 5-ft. tall robotic entities with wrinkled gray skin. Reportedly their arms ended in claws, their legs appeared to be merged together and they made a buzzing noise. Voronezh, Russia-- 1989, 10-ft tall creature with no neck and three eyes. The center eye higher than the other two was said to glow red and may have been a lighting source. Aveley, England-- 1974, Hairy humanoid about 4-ft. tall that was covered with bro
Tonight's guest, Nostradamus scholar John Hogue, has speculated on the identity of Mabus, the so-called third Antichrist that Nostradamus named in his quatrains. Here is one quatrain where Mabus is mentioned: Mabus will soon die, then will come,A horrible undoing of people and animals, At once one will see vengeance, One-hundred powers, thirst, famine, when the comet will pass-Century 2, Quatrain 62 Hogue told After Dark that Nostradamus' apocalyptic visions could be his way of describing the after effects of a nuclear winter or the results of chemical or biological weapons. Current speculation as to who Mabus is, has focused on mainly Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. Hogue said that Nostradamus often couched the use of proper names in anagrams and word games. "Usama," Hogue says is the correct phonetic pronunciation of Osama and what Nostradamus may have done was dropped the redundant "a" and inserted a "b" which would then contain all the letters of Mabus. Tonight's guest, Dr. Bart Kosko, the author of such books as Heaven in a Chip has pondered what the future may hold for our species. In a symposium on the TV program Closer to Truth, Kosko pointed out that while the human brain is a marvel of natural biology, it has certain limitations. "We'll be re-engineering the brain a piece at a time, initially with implants and other supplements and ultimately engineering an outright replacement," he said. Kosko sees our evolution going in the direction of transferring our consciousness into increasingly advanced computer chips which would allow people to live theoretically forever. "Just take the example of your past," he said. "You can't remember a great deal of what you did three years ago. But if you had the detailed richness of that experience wholly embedded in a chip, you could not only relive it at will, you could edit it
in innumerable creative ways." But will we become "chip potatoes?" Kosko doesn't see this as a bad thing.
Tonight we present three different tales from Coast listeners for your Valentine's Day enjoyment, though only one of them could be called heartwarming... The Glaring Woman Hi Coast to Coast! Ok, this is NOT a Valentine's story, unless you are the Undead!!!!! I had an "encounter" 13 years ago. This happened in Edmonton, Alberta Canada in 1990. It was a very nice sunny day in the summer, and I left my apartment to go to the store. As I was walking, I saw an ambulance across and down the street with no obvious car crash, but a bunch of people were gathered around. It was at the moment I could feel someone staring, more like glaring at me (remember, I am still a good block away from this accident scene) and I thought, "Oh, they think I'm rubbernecking and that's just rude, so I won't look." But the glaring continues. Then I look up and there is a dark haired woman standing about 20-30 feet back from the ambulance, and she is just glaring at me. "OK, enou
"Feeling goes beyond the senses and can be imagined as the fundamental awarenessout of which all of the other senses develop," Dr. Fred Alan Wolf writes in his new book,Matter Into Feeling: A New Alchemy of Science and Spirit. Wolf returns to Coast tonight on the heels of his January appearance on the show where he and George facilitated an exercise in mass consciousness regarding the situation with Iraq. In Matter into Feeling, Wolf puts forth the notion of "Adam Kadmon," an archetypal human, who unlike the Adam of the Bible is capable of evolving into something greater. "The Adam of the Book of Genesis seems almost an automaton
except for the feeling of shame
Adam Kadmon, on the other hand, is capable of feeling deeply all of the transformational possibilities imbedded within him," Wolf writes. His book is divided into nine mental/material movements that can serve as a guide to creating transformations in one's life. --L.L.
Making her debut tonight on Coast to Coast is Solara, a visionary and author. According to her website bio, she is neither a guru or channeler, but "an intrepid explorer into the Unknown," who serves as a catalyst for others to activate their own mastery. She has traveled the world since 1987 presenting workshops, classes and talks. The author of 11: 11: Inside the Doorway, she writes that we are in the midst of a time period between 1992 and 2011 where a "vast transformation doorway between duality and Oneness...is in effect." Solara also presents monthly "Surf" reports (via subscription on her website) in which she outlines her insights based on fluctuating energy patterns. In an overview article she writes "the year 2003 is a pivotal year in which events on the world stage could play themselves out in a variety of ways. It's similar to a teeter-totter

One of the areas tonight's guest, Dr. Nick Begich, has researched is the latest developments in military technology, which seems particularly pertinent now, given our potential war with Iraq. In an article on his website titled Star Wars, Star Trek and Killing Politely, he outlines how technology that could trigger earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and weather changes may already be in the works. Further, he writes about some alarming, so-called "non lethal" weapons that use a kind of electromagnetic energy pulse that when directed at the human body can effect movement, sleep and memory. One military forecast report even suggested that this kind of system could induce the sound of a human voice within a target. This "would be pure terror. A weapon (that) could intrude into the brain of an individual represents a gross invasion of his private life," Begich writes. Begich believes that just because we may have the technology to control the weather and induce changes in adversaries' b
I have been listening to Coast to Coast for many years now and I have to say if it wasn't for the show my dog just might be dead right now. You see I have had this dog Lexi for about 13 years now. Every night the dog would come upstairs to my room and lay on my bed while I listen to the show and surf the web. Well, the other day I was sitting at the computer and my dog came up the stairs. I saw him threw the side of my eye and didn't think anything of it. About 10 seconds later I went to go and pet him. As I turned to look at him my heart fell to the floor. My dog was getting up on the bed just like he did every night but this time the dog was see-through... My mind was made up pretty quick that this was a ghost. Now I listen to the show a lot but nothing ... I mean nothing can prepare you for the first time you see a ghost. I jumped out of my chair and ran downstairs..... I went to grab a flashlight....for what, I have no idea.... But instead I headed straight for the phone. As
Tonight's guest, Dr. Simeon Hein, has some interesting theories about crop circles and their properties. He believes while the circles may be man-made they seem to attract unusual energy patterns and balls of light. Though 2002 got off to a slow start, Andy Thomas of Swirled News.comwrote in an article for Nexus, that it turned out to be a banner year for crop circles, with a set of stunning designs. In one case, a convex triangle design at Sompting, UK was found to contain "a thick but fine white dust," that was later determined to be a particularly pure form of silica. With the publicity for the movie Signs, which opened in August 2002, in high gear, many thought the attention to the phenomenon might increase the possibility for hoaxers. Certainly one of the most controversial and spectacular circles was what was dubbed the "Scary Alien Formation" in a report on the Crop Circle Connector. The formation which appeared in August near Winchester, Hampshire featured a typical
Neil Slade, tonight's guest, is an advocate of using dormant areas of the brain to open up untapped intelligence and abilities. Studying for years with the unorthodox researcher T.D.A. Lingo in a mountainous retreat in Colorado, Slade developed a variety of exercises to enhance brain function. He has particularly focused on an almond-sized organ called the amygdala, which is part of the brain's limbic system (an area that is associated with emotion and motivation). "Self-amygdala stimulation increases activity of the brain's most advanced and evolutionarily most complex structure
the frontal lobes," Slade writes in an article for Viewzone.com. In lieu of being hooked up to electrodes, he has suggested simple visualization exercises such as imagining a feather tickling the amygdala. In a previous appearance on Coast to Coast, he conducted such an experiment over the air. For many this "clicking their amygdala forward" caused "immediate dramatic auditory, visual and physical sensat
Tonight's guest Kevin Mitnick was released from federal prison in 2000 after serving time for cyber crimes. Since then he has turned his life around and now seeks to help citizens and companies from becoming the victim of information thieves. In the book he co-wrote, The Art of Deception he presents a variety of scenarios that con artists have used to swipe valuable facts. Referring to such criminals as "social engineers," Mitnick details how they use inside company lingo to manipulate employees, often over the phone, into giving them safeguarded data. In one chapter he writes about "The Invisible Employee," a woman he calls Shirley who is one of the rapidly growing legion of identity thieves. Shirley poses as "Norma Todd from the Cleveland office," to a customer service employee and through a set of seemingly innocent circumstances is able to finagle the service worker into giving her a voice mailbox. After that is achieved, she continues the deception by speaking with another c
In tandem with Friday Night Open Lines we will be featuring stories and articles from our listeners on a regular basis. Tonight we hear from AJ McGettigan who writes about an unusual alignment of planetary bodies that is occurring tonight (Jan 31-Feb 1): Tonight's event will involve the Earth, Moon, Sun, Neptune, and Jupiter. As midnight approaches across the western hemisphere, Jupiter will climbtoward the mid-heaven as Moon and Sun conjoin at the nadir close toNeptune. In layman's terms, this means that for a brief time five of the10 major bodies in our solar system will be arranged in a straight linewith our planet near the top of the line-up (just below Jupiter). Note: The exact time of the new moon will be well aligned with the longitudeof Hilo, Hawaii, where at 12:48 a.m. local time Jupiter will be at themid-heaven and Neptune will be at the nadir. Astrologically speaking, this event indicates a time when ourmeditations and prayers will be strongly magni
Hal Lindsey, in his recent book The Everlasting Hatred: The Roots of Jihad, writes about what he perceives as an ancient fight-to-the-death conflict between Judeo-Christian and Islamic orders. In an essay on his website, titled The Islamic Mindset, he comments that the US needs to realize "how official Muslim clerics think, or we will perish under nuclear rubble." According to Lindsey, many of these clerics preach that the US and the West are "The Great Satan," and the supreme enemy of Islam. "A nuclear-armed Muslim suicide bomber who kills a few million 'infidels' would be considered among the highest pantheon of Muslim martyrs," Lindsey continues. Though he doesn't believe that all Muslims are our enemies, he says there is particular danger from Muslim men between the ages of 18 to 45. Lindsey advocates the profiling of Muslims and Mosques in the US. "If this is done prudently," he writes, "it will verify who are our Muslim friends are who are our enemies." --L.L.
In an article posted on William Henry's website, he ruminates on the coming of Planet X, which he says the Sumerians referred to as "The Lord." The planet was inhabited by what the Bible called the "Shining Ones," Henry says, and he speculates that these beings had access to mind boggling technologies. "They operated a (star) gateway linking Heaven and Earth. They genetically altered the human body
to operate in this gateway.
They could create weapons of mass destruction and advanced human beings," he writes. Henry connects this stargate or wormhole with the "fiery furnace" of Solomon's Temple written about in the Bible. Sumerian scholar Zecharia Sitchin has also analyzed depictions of what may be this temple/gateway. "Buried deep beneath the sands of Iraq are the secrets of the Shining Ones of Planet X," Henry writes, adding that he thinks Saddam is well aware of such treasures. The return of the roaming planet "centers on the recovery of a technology once housed at Solomon's Te

Benjamin Creme, tonight's guest, first began presenting messages from Maitreya, the "World Teacher," in public forums in 1977. He says that Maitreya had spent the last 2,000 years in a "body of light" at a retreat in the Himalayas, but has now resurrected in a physical form that he "self-created" and that he lives and works in London.
As we kick-off another Friday night of Open Lines, here is a fascinating email to ponder. It comes from Sarah in Anchorage, Alaska: I'm forty years old now, and back in my early twenties, I died as a result of a misdiagnosed condition, and wrongly prescribed medication. I was 'gone' for a few minutes apparently, but was brought back by some very capable paramedics. Although I had an 'out of body experience', I don't want to go into that here, as it is the transformation I underwent, which led to my ability to have 'visions', that I want to discuss, as it pertains to the future of our country. Not long after my near death experience, I began having dreams that were unlike any I had experienced before, and if these dreams were 'recurring', they virtually always came true. As I said, this began in my twenties, and in those days, I lived in New Mexico-- I dreamed of everything from the mundane, to people dying, and about ninety five percent of the time, my visions were very accur
Tonight's guest, Richard Lawrence, co-wrote the book Contacts With the Gods from Space, with the late Dr. George King, which details King's amazing legacy of extraterrestrial contacts. Born in Shropshire, England in 1919, King became an adept practitioner of yoga as a young man, spending hours each day in the activity. But in 1954, sitting in his London apartment he suddenly heard a disembodied voice that commanded him: "Prepare yourself! You are to become the voice of Interplanetary Parliament." It was an alien intelligence he would come to know as Aetherius. A few days later King received a visit from a famed Yoga master who entered and left through a locked door. The master reportedly taught King to establish a mental rapport with the "Cosmic Masters."
Tonight's guest Douglas Mulhall writes that there is often a thin line between science and science-fiction in a recent article he penned for The Futurist . In fact, he says that a number of things that he had posited for the future had already come to pass by the time his book, Our Molecular Future, hit the shelves. Among those developments were:Super-strong building materials---aerogels that use nanotechnology Malaria genomes--- may lead to lifesaving vaccine Nanobacteria discovery--- suggesting heart disease may be treatable infection AI computers--- beating stockbrokers at their own game "These leaps constitute the kernels of a new molecular economy," Mulhall writes. But the problem with such fast flying future developments is that there is sometimes a public backlash against them due to fears of the new and untested. But "the rationale for proceeding with such risky technologies," Mulhall explains, "may to be to win the race against nature's next onslaught
Tonight's guest Joyce Riley has called attention to the dangers of vaccines. In an article posted on her website, Vexing over Vaccines, Dr. Alan Cantwell Jr. points to a number of alarming issues surrounding their usage. He also details information about the production of vaccines that many people may not be aware of. For instance, in order to develop vaccines, the strains are often grown on animal parts like monkey kidneys and chicken embryos or human cell lines derived from cancer cells. This can potentially lead to contamination and/or the introduction of animal viruses into the human population. In fact many believe that the AIDS virus may have been brought into the gay community by an experimental hepatitis B vaccine that was widely targeted to men in that group in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York from 1978-1981. It has also been posited that HIV in Africa originated from a polio vaccine that was contaminated with chimp and monkey viruses. While the debate o
As I walked home last night I was surprised to see a large telescope planted on a city street. A courtesy of the Sidewalk Astronomers, they refer to their mission as "urban guerilla astronomy." It was a kick to see the fine details of a lunar crater even as the noise and lights of the city surrounded me. Does the world seem a little crazier when the moon turns full as it is doing tonight? Lunar effects have been tied to increases in such things as homicide rates, births, casino payouts, psychiatric admissions, traffic accidents and suicides. Though numerous studies have found little statistical evidence to back-up these assertions, there remains an intuitive sense that tells youyes, things do get a bit wilder on the night of a full moon. Hey, that's when all the lunatics come out! Though full moon wildness may be more mythic than factual, there is some evidence that lunar cycles can have an effect in such areas as fishing, hunting and agriculture. Some pagans and Wiccans b
Tonight's guest Vendyl Jones and his Institute have been involved in archaeological excavations in the state of Israel. Recently, evidence has surfaced that there was once a Greek temple in the city of Dor, which is on Israel's Mediterranean coast. The area, which has been home to eight civilizations dating back 3,000 years, may have had a Greek presence around the seventh century BCE. The latest Biblical Archaeology Review analyzed the finds from a dig there. "Especially tantalizing was
a huge clay mask, much larger than an ordinary human face. All that was preserved however, was a gigantic eye, with an eyebrow and part of the forehead," wrote Ephraim Stern. Eventually other pieces were located and found to form the heads of two Gorgons. Gorgons are well known in Greek mythology (most famously Medusa) and have typically been depicted as monstrous beings with snakes for hair, fang-like teeth, and their tongues sticking out. In Greek culture representations of the Gorgon on s
Tonight's guest Dannion Brinkley was one of the first to bring attention to the "near death" experience (NDE). In the ensuing years since the publication of his book "Saved by the Light," numerous other accounts have arisen from people who returned to life after being clinically dead for a certain period of time. One such person was Pam Reynolds who appeared on Coast in December of 2001 and impressed Art Bell with her story. Reynolds underwent a drastic surgical operation known as "standstill" which involved stopping her heart, freezing her body and draining all the blood from it. During the procedure Reynolds' perspective changed such that she was looking down on her body. But then her attention turned to a light above her. "I had to look up to see it. I can't really say it was in the ceiling. Because it's as if everything faded away and there was no ceiling

Tonight's guest, Dr. Roger Leir, has yielded some rather interesting results from his implant removals. Long a staple of UFO/abduction lore, implants recently figured in as a plot point in Taken the mega mini-series that aired last month on the Sci-Fi Channel. In the series, implants were explained as the method the aliens use to keep tabs on abductees. While the jury still may be out ET implants, it seems that our government has had the technology to create and use "intracerebral implants" since the late 1950s. A device known as the "stimoceiver," implanted via the nasal cavity, can receive andtransmit electronic signals, and has been used in experiments on animals and humans. Invented by Dr. Jose Delgado ,it was found that through electronic stimulation of the brain, theexperimenter could induce emotions and behavior, controlling to a large degree the subject's responses. It is alleged that these devices havealso been used to induce a hypnotic state through radio wave
Beyond your garden variety nightmare, lie a breed of especially horrifying dream related experiences. Why, you could lose sleep just thinking about them! Here's a look at three such states.
Tonight's guest, James Arthur, believes that certain plant substances which alter human consciousness helped our species to evolve. The renowned thinker and American shaman, the late Terence McKenna also hypothesized about this.
Tonight's guest, Father Andrew Wingate, was acquainted with the late Jesuit priest (and beloved Coast guest) Malachi Martin. In fact he even assisted him on one of his exorcisms. The documented practice of exorcism dates back to the time of Jesus and was frequently mentioned in the New Testament.
Tonight's guest, Harry Braun, is an expert on renewable energy such as hydrogen. Fuel cells can be made to produce clean energy derived from hydrogen. But to use hydrogen on a widespread scale as a clean fuel and power source, the stumbling block has been how to find cost-effective methods.
Tonight's guest Bart Sibrel is one of a number of individuals who believes the 1969 moon landing was staged. While the debate continues on this controversial assertion, the moon itself has been the subject of a number of mysterious reports over the years.
