Invisibility Cloak On the Way

An invisibility cloak could be just a couple of years away if physicist Ulf Leonhardt has his way. The St Andrews University professor thinks he can develop a special material capable of bending light around itself, effectively making whatever it surrounds invisible to the naked eye. Leonhardt's research is being funded by the Royal Society's Theo Murphy Blue Skies Award. More at BBC News.

Lake Worth 'Muck Monster'

A mysterious sea creature, dubbed 'muck monster,' was caught on tape by Greg Reynolds of LagoonKeepers.org at Lake Worth Lagoon in Palm Beach County, Florida. Marine expert Thomas Reinert studied the video but was unable to make an identification. Reynolds' associate Don Serrano recalls seeing something strange move through the water. "I didn't know what it was... It was different, very different." More at WPTV.com.

'UFOs' Transported Down Dallas Highway

Recent online stories allege that UFOs were carried through Dallas, Texas on flatbed trucks under police escort. UFO Casebook has published two photos and a report of the incident submitted by James Garza. Numerous people were said to have phoned in to radio stations to relate their own accounts. Video: Touchable Hologram

Researchers from the University of Tokyo have created a holographic image that can be "felt" with bare hands. The new technology utilizes Nintendo Wii hardware and ultrasonic waves to create the sensation of touch. Couple Finds Deadly Tropical Plant... in England

Phyllis Abbott, 79, and husband George, 84, discovered a deadly tropical plant called the Devil's Snare growing in their Suffolk, UK garden. It is normally found in the Amazon and used by South American Indians to poison their hunting weapons. The plant's venom causes blurred vision and hallucinations, and can lead to coma and death. Experts believe the seeds of the toxic plant arrived by way of bird droppings. Read more at The Telegraph.
