Pilot Escapes Jet Crash

A pilot's amazing escape from a plane crash during an air show practice has been captured in a dramatic video. Captain Brian Bews ejected only moments before his CF-18 Hornet fighter jet smashed into the ground and exploded in a ball of flames at the 2010 Alberta International Airshow. Skydiver's Glider Stunt

Austrian skydiver Paul Steiner pulled off a death defying stunt by somersaulting from one glider to another below it at more than 6,500 feet in the air. The daredevil then reached up and grabbed the tailfin of the first craft, before finally jumping off of the glider and parachuting safely back to earth. Video at The Telegraph.

Surgeons Remove Explosive from Soldier's Head

Army surgeons donned protective body armor to remove a live explosive round from an Afghan soldier's head. The incendiary device, which contained enough explosives to kill the entire surgical team, became lodged in the patient's scalp during a bomb attack. Initially, doctors thought it was a piece of solid scrap metal, but the CAT scan image revealed the suspicious object was hollow. More at ABC News.

Finland Postal Service to Digitize Letters

In an effort to cut costs and carbon emissions, Finland's postal service will begin opening mail and sending scanned copies to selected recipients. Volunteers will be notified by email or text message, and receive their mail as PDF files in a secure digital mailbox. Critics have compared the trial program to the tactics employed by former Soviet spy agency, the KGB, who routinely monitored people's private mail. More at FOXNews.com.
