Supernatural & Paranormal
Appearing in studio during the first hour, author Rosemary Ellen Guiley presented an update on 'Frank's Box', a device that purportedly offers 2-way communication with spirits or the deceased. She demonstrated the live usage of several of the devices, including a new MiniBox, which is said to be more sensitive and have less static than the original invention. Guiley sent us a set of related photos & links. And check out our digicam photos as well.

George "Lee" Lutz died on May 8, 2006 at the age of 59 from conditions related to heart disease. A former land surveyor, he gained notoriety after he and his wife Kathy moved into a three-story home on Long Island in 1975 that was the site of the grisly DeFeo family murders. George and Kathy's accounts of the haunting that took place there, which they said included oozing slime, levitation and moving furniture, became the source for The Amityville Horror book and movies. For more on Lutz's passing, see this obituary.
Medium Mary Occhino took part in a 2002 experiment with Gary Schwartz, in which she gave a reading long distance to an unknown sitter. The sitter, it turns out was the well known author Deepak Chopra, and Occhino and two other mediums offered substantial information, both specific and accurate about Chopra's deceased father. Sylvia Browne has long talked about her spirit guide, Francine who gives her information from the other side. She first began receiving visitations from her when she was only eight years old and her parents initially thought Francine was just an imaginary friend.
After all the tumultuous weather we've been through lately, one might wonder what the conditions are like after we die. Sylvia Browne, in her book Life on the Other Side addresses just this question. "There is no precipitation on The Other Side, no rain, no snow, sleet or hail. There is no wind stronger than an occasional gentle breeze," and the temperature is an eternal 78 degrees, she writes.
Was the famed haunting case that became know as The Amityville Horror in a series of books and films (including a new remake) actually a hoax? We turned to Rosemary Ellen Guiley's Encyclopedia of Ghosts and Spirits for the lowdown.

Remote viewing expert Major Ed Dames, claims to have pioneered a system that allows a remote viewer to obtain a precise GPS-caliber geographical fix for any location. He recently spent some time conducting a search for Plato's "Atlantis" and believes he has found it. Stuart Wilde writes: Recently, spiritual beings in the morph started talking about the arrival on earth of men with wings. I found it intriguing but I didn't know what was meant by it. Certainly, religious paintings depict Michael the Archangel with wings, and people imagine all angels with wings. I always thought this was so because many people have had dreams in which they are flying and some have also had out-of-body experiences.
Tonight's guest Gordon-Michael Scallion gleaned material from his "dream teachers" while in a trance state, about a civilization that once flourished on the Red Planet. "The Martians were more like the giants -some twenty-one feet tall- who first evolved during the early days of Earth," he writes in his Notes from the Cosmos. Their heads were humanoid in shape, but their skin was a "blue-green color" that was thick, "almost reptilian," he continued. According to Scallion, the Martians achieved a high-order of technology and spirituality, visiting other star systems and making extensive use of time travel. Their pyramids, of which we can still see remnants of, were "cosmic generators," that were used for "intergalactic communications."
The Hag in BlackA few years ago, I had an Old Hag experience. I noticed myself laying in my bed. It was early morning and my apartment was illuminated by the dawn sun. I looked towards the foot of my bed and saw a short woman with black, hair, eyes, and dress standing in the corner of the room. This terrified me and at that moment I realized that I was paralyzed. In an instant, I saw the woman approach me at a very fast speed. It was as if every time I blinked (although I am not sure I was blinking), she had advanced on me until her face was right in front of mine and it felt as though she was sitting on my chest. After that, I seemed to break out of the paralysis and found myself laying in bed in my empty room. I have had a few instances of hypnagogic (hallucinatory) sleep paralysis in my life, but this was the scariest.
