Bio
When Philadelphia's City Paper bestowed upon Rollye James the dubious award of "Radio jock most likely to make Rush Limbaugh seem rational", they didn't know the half of it. Their contention, that Rollye was on the edge of the "Lunatic Fringe", was based entirely on her strong libertarian political views and eager willingness to explore any conspiracy theory. It never occurred to them she might have an interest in the paranormal, let alone one that dated back to her early years in radio over four decades ago.
While working in Miami for Storz Broadcasting, Rollye stumbled over the Reverend Sophie Bush at a local spiritualist church. Drawn to Bush by her theatrical demeanor (Rollye swears Johnny Carson took "Carnac the Magnificent" from Sophie), what hooked her was the possibility that all she was seeing was real. Something about the concept that we survive death more than resonated with Rollye. Later, reading the accounts of disincarnate "Seth" in the Jane Roberts books, it was a homecoming of sorts, as Rollye on a gut level knew what she was reading was part of the bigger picture few here see.
Rollye's interest in the ancient mysteries led her, among other things over the years, to membership in AMORC (The Rosicrucians), study with Paramahansa Yogananda's SRF (Self-Realization Fellowship) and an avid interest in astrology, but it would be decades before her radio career intersected with her spiritual thoughts on Coast to Coast AM. First she would work in over 30 cities in virtually every conceivable radio position from overnight disc jockey to assistant chief engineer, and a few radio related posts including promotion manager for performer Charlie Rich in the ‘70s to radio editor for Billlboard Magazine in the ‘80s where her "Vox Jox" column was a must read for broadcasters.
Since 1987, Rollye has devoted the bulk of her attention (beyond her passion for obscure R&B oldies and her odd hobby of having driven the entire US Interstate System) to talk radio, where she was number one in various markets from Denver to Philadelphia, before launching her own nationally syndicated show, now in its 8th year of production. "I loved hosting Coast to Coast AM a couple nights a week during the turn of the century and am delighted to be doing it again. The opportunity to explore the unseen forces that lead to the manifestation we see on the nightly news, is a wonderful departure that only this show provides. My hope is that listeners already entrenched will be joined by those just awakening as we explore what actually creates our reality."
