Last Show Recap

A remarkable discovery has emerged in astrophysics: key properties of the universe have just the right values to make life possible. Most scientists prefer to explain away this uniqueness, insisting that a number of unseen universes must therefore exist, each randomly different. Astrophysicist Bernard Haisch joined George Knapp in the first half of the show to propose the alternative—that the special properties of our universe reflect an underlying intelligent consciousness.

In the second half of the program, veteran journalist Chris Taylor talked about how the Star Wars franchise has conquered our culture with a sense of lightness and exuberance, while remaining serious enough to influence politics, and spread a spirituality that appeals to religious groups and atheists alike.

Charlie Kam

Special Guest

Biography:

Charlie Kam, Conference Chairman of TransVision 2007 will host the event as Master of Ceremonies. He is a member of the Extropian Institute, World Transhumanist Association, Immortalist Institute, World Future Society, Singularity Institute and Alcor. Charlie is best known for his musical parody of Ray Kurzweil's Singularity, "I am the very model of a Singularitarian" which has been a favorite among transhumanist and futurist community blogs. As President of Greenpack Construction, Charlie builds state-of-art, solar powered homes that implement all types of recycling. Kam believes that the potential of solar power to safely and cleanly, solve most all of our world's energy problems, and decrease much of the pollution and environmental destruction caused by using fossil or nuclear energy, has been conspicuously ignored. Charlie Kam is taking action by building homes and buildings that attempt to provide all of the power by way of solar energy.
