Stan Tenen

Biography:

Stan Tenen is the Director of Research for the Meru Foundation. With a B.S. in Physics from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, Mr. Tenen has designed and produced optical and electronic equipment for doctors and surgeons, and holds several patents. In 1968, while examining the Hebrew text of Genesis, he noticed what appeared to be a pattern in the arrangement of the letters. This observation, which prompted thirty years of research into the history and mythology of the text, has led to a meaningful understanding of traditional teachings in a modern context. Mr. Tenen has presented his works to scientific and religious scholars throughout the United States and Israel, and has received praise for his insight and depth of knowledge.

Intelligent Design Debate

Tuesday November 8, 2005

Three guests debated the idea of "intelligent design." Was humankind designed by God, superior alien life forms or neither?Richard C. Hoagland is the founder of Enterprise Mission, a research group that investigates the scientific possibility of ET artifacts across the solar system. The Kansas School Board has taken a brave position, he said, in their declaration that the Darwinian system isn't the only view. Hoagland finds this hopeful since it may open up schools to presenting alternative evolutionary theories, such as the idea he espouses-- directed panspermia, which posits that life was spread throughout the galaxy by an intelligent species. Mike Heiser (michaelsheiser.com) received a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and ancient Semitic Languages. He now works for Logos Bible Software, a company that specializes in analyzing ancient texts. A theist, he is not persuaded by the idea that life developed out of a vacuum, and still sees a need for some kind of intelligent caus ... More

Geometric Metaphor in Genesis

Thursday December 9, 2004

Research director of the Meru Foundation, Stan Tenen, discussed the use of "geometric metaphor" in the Hebrew text of Genesis. He said academic scholars have understood Bible stories only as word-based, poetic metaphors. Tenen, however, believes there is profound mathematical meaning found in the letter sequences of Genesis.According to Tenen, "the Hebrew letters have shapes that are based on a model hand making gestures," allowing one to "see" what Hebrew words mean. He said the geometric form of the letter sequences provides a mathematical and experiential view of the biblical text that would not be readily apparent from a literal interpretation of the narrative. When examined in light of geometric metaphor, Tenen concludes the Hebrew letter-text of Genesis describes "the creation of everything" and "leads to spiritual and emotional and intellectual growth." During the show, Tenen also presented two audio clips composed by Daniel Gil (see article below). By assigning ... More

The Biblical Alphabet & Consciousness

Wednesday September 1, 2004

Researcher Stan Tenen (meru.org) shared his theories about meaning and consciousness that he has interpreted from the ancient Biblical alphabet. The text of Genesis, he said, can be looked at like a woven structure, where meanings are seen in the pattern, beyond just what the words spell out. This structure is like a software program that once activated in your mind can be a path to a higher view or enlightenment, he explained. Biblical Hebrew is an "acronym language," he continued, where "each letter can be read as a word, and each word as a sentence." ... More
