Sun's Magnetic Poles to Flip

Something big is about to happen in our solar system—the Sun's magnetic poles will soon be swapping places. This change in polarity occurs approximately every 11 years at the peak of each solar cycle, when the Sun unleashes particularly powerful flares and coronal mass ejections. The reversal has been slowly unfolding since the summer but scientists are not certain when the polar flip will be completed. More at Unexplained Mysteries.
