February 7, 2009 saw Victoria, Australia's worst "natural" disaster in the form of several massive bushfires that destroyed homes (countless), lives (currently at 209 and more partial remains found daily), and wiped entire communities off the map. Some places now exist in name and memory only.) Since that day, Australians and many others have banded together in an inspiring example of humanity and global community and raised over 209 million dollars (AUS) for the rebuilding and relief efforts, as well as pledging ongoing and continual support in all areas for the communities effected. This is a photo taken many miles away, from the top of a shopping centre (mall).
