Cave art from Richard Shaver, who claimed "racial memory" of a life spent in the caves of the inhabitants of the Hollow Earth, the Dero and the Tero. Introduced as a series of articles in the March 1945 issue of Amazing Stories, Life magazine declared the Shaver Mystery "the most celebrated rumpus that ever racked the science fiction world." Shaver, however, insisted that he was engaged only in factual reporting.
