China & Military Technology
| Date: | 07-01-07 |

| Guests: | Charles R. Smith |
Investigative journalist for NewsMax.com, Charles R. Smith discussed concerns about China in relation to their militaristic practices and intent. He also spoke about the next generation of US military technology. China is supplying the Taliban with advanced weapons, such as surface-to-air missiles, and is using Iranians as intermediaries in the transactions, he asserted. For more on this, see his recent article.
China's actions, he said, are a kind of "asymmetrical warfare" employed against the US in which proxies are used to distribute militaristic technology. Further, China has 3,000 front companies operating in the U.S. for economic and military espionage, claimed Smith, who advocated shutting them down and "sending them home."
America's newest military aircraft are likely to be unmanned, and the latest spy plane nicknamed "Son of Blackbird" will exceed the abilities of the SR-71, he noted. Click here for Smith's update on weaponry.
Art Bell's Retirement
At the start of Sunday's program, Art Bell announced his retirement from hosting the weekend version of Coast to Coast AM. "I really want to spend my time with my wife and newborn daughter," he explained, adding that his association with Premiere Radio will continue and he'll be back to occasionally fill in or host special shows.
