Recap

Trouble Spots

Author and adventurer Robert Young Pelton (comebackalive.com) the main guest on Tuesday's show, discussed his travels to the world's most troubled spots, and shared his insights into terrorism and war. In Afghanistan, during the US attack after 9-11, Pelton said the sounds of war, such as bombs being dropped, were "awe inspiring," and not unlike being at a "rock concert." And yet, the thing that scares him the most about being in such a place, is "the randomness of death."
Pelton believes that the rationale for the 9-11 attack, was "the little guy striking back at the big guy," but since then, America has done "more damage to ourselves than the enemy," with our "blowback" (reactive postures).

"The country most likely poised to degrade our position," is China, Pelton said, suggesting that the US may eventually be competing with them for the same global resources. He also commented that the largest group of terrorists today are in Colombia-- namely the 25,000 Marxist rebels.
