Intention & Spirit

Dr. Wayne Dyer shared his ideas on the power of intention and how his work has evolved from the psychological into the spiritual over the years. "We are spiritual beings having a temporary human experience," he said of our lives. Citing Jung's four ascending archetypes-- the athlete, the warrior, the statesman and the spirit, he said these can be stages that people evolve through.

One way to move towards fulfillment and spirit, is to rid oneself of negativity, he noted. "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change," Dyer said, adding that whatever you continually think about is what you are going to get. Most people focus on the negative in their thoughts, and end up bringing those things into their lives, he surmised.

Highly functioning people put their attention on what they intend to manifest, Dyer said. People are either in a state of allowing or resistance, but allowing puts them in a rapport of attracting what they want, he detailed. Asked how to deal with depression, he said: "Get rid of labels…It's all in the way you're processing your thoughts…Make conscious contact with God through meditation…The greatest antidepressant in the world is an act of kindness."
