Colliding Planets

Physicist John Ackerman shared his planetary theories which mate mythology and modern science and reveal chaotic interactions between Venus, Mars, and Earth. Expanding on the ideas of Velikovsky, he posits that the planet Venus was born out of Jupiter, when an object, from out of the solar system, collided with it. Based on his analysis of the Rig Veda, an ancient Hindu religious text, he has theorized that this event took place around 4,000 B.C.

The cloud of plasma produced from the collision was so big, it had its own gravitational attraction, he said. And as this object, which solidified into Venus, moved through the solar system, it knocked Mars out of its orbit and drove it within 20,000 miles of Earth, he continued. Mars orbited Earth for 15-year cycles that repeated 100 times, Ackermann suggested, and further, Martians journeyed to Earth during this time, and were referred to in the Bible as the Elohim.

The Bible calls Mars the "firmament" during this period, and its volcanoes appeared to Earth's inhabitants as stars, he asserted. In terms of representations of Mars' nearness to Earth, Ackerman cited an ancient Egyptian relief, as well as a 16th century painting by Campi.
