Counterterrorism & Cover-ups

Investigative reporter Peter Lance returned to present evidence that the U.S. Government has been covering up its own counterterrorism failures since the mid-90s. Recently, it was revealed that a small highly classified military program code-named Able Danger had uncovered the name of Mohamed Atta as a terrorist a full year before the 2001 attack that he allegedly masterminded. Information such as this makes the official 9-11 Commission Report even less credible, Lance commented.

Lance also named Justice Department employees such as the attorney Dietrich Snell as being "cover-up specialists." Snell kept secret, information he learned that connected Ramzi Yousef and Khalid Shaikh Mohammed to the crash of TWA Flight 800 and al Qaeda, he said.

The FBI has often failed in their efforts to thwart domestic terrorism declared Lance. Specifically, he cited how they had 8,300 hours of untranslated al Qaeda wiretaps. Lance also recommended the work of John Berger of IntelFiles, who he said has connected more of the dots on his own than what some of the governmental agencies have done.

Opening later this month at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is an exhibit titled The Perfect Medium: Photography and the Occult. Today's New York Times previews the show and profiles one of its curators.
