Zarqawi Update
First hour guest
Douglas Hagmann of the
Northeast Intelligence Network discussed the search for al Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, who he believes was not killed in a recent raid. However, he suggested that al Zarqawi may soon be captured because he's lost a majority of support after the Jordan hotel bombings in which many Muslims were killed.
Recap
JFK Assassination Special III
Three authors each shared their theories about who was behind the assassination of JFK.
Lamar Waldron said the legacy of secrecy behind the murder has continued to impact American history. He cited Bobby Kennedy as being a central figure in the story. Bobby was waging two wars simultaneously, one against Castro and the other against organized crime. Further, he and JFK planned a secret coup and invasion of Cuba for December, 1963, Waldron revealed. Yet that plan, was infiltrated by three "godfathers," Johnny Rosselli, Santo Trafficante, and Carlos Marcello, who were being prosecuted by Bobby Kennedy. Using information from the Kennedy's secret plan, these mobsters attempted to kill JFK first in Chicago, then in Tampa, and finally in Dallas, Waldron declared.
In the next hour
Peter Levenda joined the show to outline unusual connections to the assassination in Dallas and New Orleans. He pointed out how Oswald was associated with a Dallas family that was related to members of a spiritualist circle known as "The Nine." "We can only imagine what their agenda might have been," said Levenda. He also noted that in New Orleans, David Ferrie and others were members of an obscure church that he believes was a front for an intelligence operation that might have sought to eliminate Kennedy because he was perceived as being soft on communism.
In the last hour
Joan Mellen presented details of her biographical study of Jim Garrison, whom she first met in 1969. His evidence showed that the CIA was behind JFK's assassination, as Kennedy wanted to cut their budget and limit their power. Further, CIA contract pilot David Ferrie knew Oswald, as did Jack Ruby, she detailed.
Mellen also discussed Bobby Kennedy's attempts to quash Garrison's investigation, which he did because he didn't want Garrison to reveal his secret plan to assassinate Castro.
