Near Death Experiences
Filling in for Art Bell, George Noory welcomed
Dr. Jeffrey Long, the founder of
nderf.org. Long presented an in-depth look at the nature of Near Death Experiences (NDEs). He commented that a recent study that claimed to show a physiological correlate to NDEs (involving REM aberrations) had serious methodology problems and that there was still no medical explanation for the phenomenon. He also noted that some people who have NDEs come back from them with new abilities-- in the psychic and healing realms for instance.
Long brought on Kim Sharp of the Seattle chapter of the
International Association for Near Death Studies, who shared her near death experience. She described being in a grey "corridor of consciousness" that had sparks of light. Suddenly, the light exploded around her and she found herself "beholding eternity."
