Recap

Evolutionary Event Horizon

Filling in for Art Bell, Ian Punnett welcomed 'Historian of the Future' Charles Ostman, who revealed that mankind is approaching a transitional threshold, an Evolutionary Event Horizon, that will require us to either raise our spiritual maturity or face self-destruction.

According to Ostman, technology is evolving much faster than predicted, and possibly more quickly than the human race can cope with at its current stage of development. "If we remain locked into the somewhat negative aspects of our anthropological history," he explained, "then we're kind of doomed." Ostman believes we have a window of only 10 to 15 years to make the necessary changes and avoid a tragic End Times scenario. These changes, he explained, may involve symbiotic co-evolution with life forms other than ourselves.

Ostman said one of our biggest roadblocks to spiritual maturity is religious fundamentalism. He suggested that we learn to step outside of the box of what we've been trained to believe and try to see the larger view of how we can fit together in the "cosmic ecology." Ostman also talked about evolutionary computing, nanotechnology, nationalism and 'holographic' thinking, which allows one to see a variety of possibilities at the same time, all of the time.
