Dr. Allan Botkin discussed his groundbreaking method to help grief-stricken patients deal with their traumatic memories using a procedure called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The treatment induces an experience that the patients believe is actual contact with the deceased person they are grieving, he explained.

Using virtual reality technology can trigger the development of false memories, according to research conducted by Ann Schlosser at the University of Washington. Schlosser tested a group of students to see how well they could learn to use a real digital camera after having worked with an interactive virtual version of the camera.
