Art Bell welcomed author Graham Hancock who shared his thesis on how "supernatural" beingsinteracted with human consciousness from ancient to current times. These entities, who have been known by such names as spirits, fairies and aliens are always "interpenetrating" with our world but normal consciousness is tuned into everyday reality and is not typically aware of them, he said.
Shamans are able to access their interdimensional realms, and other pathways to the supernatuals include fasting, rhythmic dancing, and psychoactive substances such as ayuhuasca, Hancock reported. Dr. Rick Strassman conducted tests with DMT and found that his subjects were traveling to similar places in their mind. DMT, which is naturally produced in small amounts by the pineal gland, might have been "the light that was switched on in the human brain" some 40,000 years ago, theorized Hancock.
Hancock told of drinking the ayuhuasca brew in a religious context in Brazil. It plunges you into a seemingly convincing parallel world populated with intelligent beings, who teach and transform your life, he shared. At one point he met an entity that appeared similar to a "Gray," which led him to conclude there was a connection with the alien abduction syndrome. Humanity is facing "self inflicted doom" Hancock warned, but he believes we could forestall it with a self-initiated massive change in consciousness.
