Robotic Insect Flies

After more than seven years of work, a life-size robotic fly (pictured) has finally taken flight at Harvard University. The tiny robot has a wingspan of three centimeters and weighs a mere 60 milligrams. Researchers believe such small flying machines could one day be used for covert surveillance in battlefield and urban environments.
