Recap

'Leap Year' Open Lines

During Open Lines, George offered a 'Leap Year' hotline. Several callers who were born on February 29th phoned into the program to describe what it's like having only one birthday every four years.

A mother from Encinitas, CA said she gave birth to 'Leap Year' triplets (Anthony, Joseph and Raphael), after previously suffering three miscarriages. When her son, Joseph, was two and a half years old, the caller continued, he informed her that he remembered sitting with God and seeing his Mom when she was teenager. Joseph told her that he asked God if she could be his mother.

In the last half hour, George played a classic excerpt from one of Art Bell's 1997 shows, featuring a caller who claimed to be a pilot in the process of flying into Area 51.

Talking 'Baby' Robot

Robotics experts at the University of Plymouth are preparing to start a four-year project to teach a "baby" robot called iCub how to talk. The project could lead to the development of humanoid robots capable of learning, thinking and talking.

"The outcome of the research will define the scientific and technological requirements for the design of humanoid robots able to develop complex behavioral, thinking and communication skills through individual and social learning," said Angelo Cangelosi, Professor in Artificial Intelligence.
