The Power of Alpha Waves

Psychologist Dr. Jim Hardt joined the program to discuss his work mapping the brain and how it correlates with advanced spiritual states and moods. He also shared methods to increase the highly desirable alpha brain waves.
Hardt stressed the significance of alpha brain waves which fuel creativity and can be increased through positive emotions like appreciation and forgiveness. Calling alpha waves "our birthright, our heritage", he lamented that for most people the alpha wave activity has been dampened by everyday stresses and that "everyone has greater potential for genius than they can actualize."
He warned of mind sets which could hinder alpha wave activity in the brain: doubt, drowsiness, distractibility/worry, aversion/ill will, and boredom. One of the sources of these roadblocks is the ego, according to Hardt, who noted that the ego "likes to be in control" of what is going on in the brain. He advised that this brain wave interference can be overcome by recognizing that it's a function of the ego. Conquering an emotion like fear, he said, can be done by imagining the worst case scenario and then "flooding the brain with alpha waves" via positive emotions.
