Comic Books & Growing Earth Theory
Legendary comic book artist
Neal Adams spoke about the origin of Superman, his work on the Green Lantern-Green Arrow series, as well as the Batman, who he is credited with rescuing from the campy 60s television show and returning to his darker roots. Adams said he believes in "truth, justice and the American way" and added that these ideals should be represented in comic book literature so children "do not forget that they are expected to be better than they might be otherwise."
Adams discussed his science theory related to the idea of a Growing Earth. According to Adams, our planet was once much smaller than it current size, with continents of thick granitic rock covering most of the world. If one collapses the planet, he explained, the continents fit together perfectly like the pieces of a broken vase. Adams also talked about the work of Samuel Warren Carey, the Australian geologist who first proposed the Growing Earth Theory.
