Unbelievable True Stories

During Open Lines, George offered a special line for callers who have told true stories to people who would not believe them. Joyce said a 6-ft tall "dark-hooded figure" appeared by her bed one night, with a "small, impish figure" standing next to him. The impish figure ran onto the bed, Joyce explained, crossing over her stomach three times. According to Joyce, the hooded figure told her that this meant "death." She told George nobody in her apartment complex believed her, not even her husband. Joyce said her next pregnancy ended prematurely.

Shawn in Duluth, Minnesota recalled seeing a "huge, metallic bowl-shaped object" when he was growing up in Texas. He said his siblings also witnessed the UFO, but their father had asked them to keep the sighting a secret. Later, Shawn said he told an Air Force Colonel about what he had seen that night. The Colonel replied, "There are things that the public is better served not knowing."

Several other callers shared UFO stories, including a man from West Covina who said he once saw a giant v-shaped craft that he estimated was 3 to 4 miles long and 2 miles wide. The caller said it did not appear to be a human-made vehicle. Another caller recalled the time he was attending a lantern festival and witnessed what looked like "an incoming comet" shoot across the sky and stop. The caller said after the 10-minute sighting the festival crowd had mysteriously decreased from several thousand to only a few hundred.

In the last half hour, George played a clip from his 1/24/08 interview with guitarist Robby Krieger and keyboardist Ray Manzarek, both from the legendary rock band The Doors. They were joined by author R. Gary Patterson.

Lake Pepin Sea Monster

Since the 1800s, residents around Minnesota's Lake Pepin have claimed they've spotted a mysterious creature. The first sighting was in 1871. The artist depiction is pictured (to the left). Boaters have reported being attacked while on the water. Steve Raymond says, "I distinctly remember three humps, with one hump looking like a head."
