EMP Attack on US
In the first hour, researcher and lecturer
Dr. Nick Begich discussed the possibility of an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) attack on America. If anybody detonated a thermonuclear device 250 miles above the United States, Begich explained, it would fry every sophisticated electronic circuit, destroy communication systems, and shutdown the US power grid. According to Begich, a non-nuclear device capable of producing a surge of energy could also be used for an EMP attack. Begich recommended keeping paper records and using optical circuits in electronics as a pre-emptive measure against such an attack.
