In Coast You Missed It 4/13/18

This past week on C2C and at the Coast website, we explored a vast array of unusual topics, including unidentified submerged objects and astronaut UFO encounters, as well as frightening realms ranging from haunted locations to catastrophic tax nightmares. Take a look back at the past week of offerings from C2C, where it's always Friday the 13th.

To that end, fans of spooky stories will want to check out this past Monday's program, when paranormal researcher Logan Corelli shared some truly chilling accounts from his 17 years of investigating haunted locations, including one incident where he was attacked by a ghost! But perhaps the most unsettling aspect of his work, Corelli revealed, is that spirits seemed to attach themselves to him on a number of occasions, leading him to muse that at one point his house was "almost as haunted as the places I was investigating."

Meanwhile, an odd piece of news that captured the attention of the country this week centered around claims that the accounts of UFO encounters by American astronauts had been verified by lie detector tests. The outrageous assertion managed to make headlines around the world probably both because of its fantastic nature and the fact that famed astronaut Buzz Aldrin was unwittingly connected to the purported polygraph. Although the second man to walk on the moon has yet to respond to the story, we're guessing that he's not too thrilled about seeing his name in the news over the last few days.

Speaking of iconic figures from space history, Thursday was the 57th anniversary of Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin becoming the first human being to enter outer space. Hoping to commemorate this monumental feat, the Serbian capital city of Belgrade unveiled a new monument to the pioneering pilot, but residents were not too thrilled with the piece due to its disproportionate design which featured a massive column atop which sits a relatively tiny bust of Gagarin's head. We speak of this monument in the past tense because, tired of the deluge of criticism for the work, the city of Belgrade actually dismantled the piece in a matter of only two days.

More often than not overshadowed by their flying counterparts, unidentified submerged objects (USOs) found themselves in the spotlight on Sunday's program when ufologist Preston Dennett shared his exhaustive research into underwater anomalies that just may be alien. Among the many compelling cases he detailed during his appearance was one particularly bizarre case where a group of people on a beach spotted a USO off shore and then some silent humanoids appeared mingling among them before the entire gathering seemingly experienced missing time!

For some strange reason, it seemed to be a bad week to be a part of the animal kingdom as there were a pair of odd stories surrounding unfortunate creatures that had met their demise. The more eye-catching tale may have been that of a mummified monkey discovered in the ceiling of an iconic Minnesota department store that is undergoing renovations. Meanwhile, over 100 geese were killed by lightning from a hail storm in Idaho. On the other end of the spectrum, a college student saved a drowning squirrel using CPR!

If you're like most Americans, there's a good chance that you'll be scrambling to get your taxes done this weekend and, based on what we learned from taxpayers’ rights advocate Dan Pilla on Thursday's show, you'll likely want to triple check your work before sending it off to the IRS. Pilla detailed numerous instances of catastrophic tax nightmares he's encountered in his thirty year career helping people navigate that perilous path of paperwork, including his own experience helping his family win against the IRS when he was only 18 years old.
