To celebrate our upcoming Ghost to Ghost special on Halloween night, C2C is revisiting all thirteen installments of the annual spooktacular in the Coast archive.
Today's showcase takes us back to the 2009 edition of Ghost to Ghost, hosted by the one-and-only Ian Punnett and featuring an unnerving story from a woman who may have seen a 'fresh ghost.'
Gabrielle in New Orleans detailed the off-putting incident which happened to her while driving through a notorious stretch of highway in North Carolina called the 'Dragon's Tail.'
Nestled in a remote area and boasting a series of rapid curves, she explained, the patch of road is a popular site of motorcycle riders.
As Gabrielle came around one of the corners, she was stunned to see a man running along the highway in the opposite direction.
This man, she recalled was "kind of bounding. It looked like there was no weight hitting the pavement."
Strangely, the man was both barefoot and wore no jacket, which Gabrielle found particularly odd since it was fairly cold outside.
When the two passed each other, she said, "he looked at me in a very distracted way."
She also observed that, despite turning his head, his pace never changed.
Gabrielle conceded that she decided not to see if he needed any help because "he was just too creepy."
The source of the strange 'spirit' may be explained by what Gabrielle saw shortly thereafter as she continued driving down the highway.
"I came upon a gathering of police cars," she recalled, explaining that the commotion caused her to slow down in order to pass the scene.
At that point, she saw that they were tending to a motorcyclist who had been in a terrible accident.
This downed biker bore an eerie similarity to the mysterious and mystifying man that she had just seen running past her, leading Gabrielle to suspect that perhaps she had witnessed his ghost moments after he had crossed over to the 'other side.'
