(2)Researchers at Cornell, MIT and Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands have developed a new breed of energy efficient robots that walk like humans. The Cornell robot (pictured above) uses energy only to push off, then gravity brings each foot down. Based on "passive-dynamic" technology, the robot can walk on level ground using as little as one-half the wattage of a standard, compact fluorescent light bulb.
