About 5 years ago I was living in a small house with 2 other roommates. One was an older man by the name of Pedro and the other was my female cousin, Paula. At the time of this incident I had been living there about 6 months but Paula had been there over a year and Pedro's family actually owned the house. He had been living there a number of years.
One night in late October we had quite a few friends over for a party and as the night wound down we found ourselves listening to Pedro tell us stories about the spooks and spectres that lurked about the house. Now Paula and I had both already heard these tales and had heard a few noises and witnessed Pedro's cat behave strangely a few times. Since nothing sinister ever happened so we didn't think too much about it. But there was one tale that I had not heard and it was about the shed that faced the rear bedrooms of the house. My room was on the side of the house and I never went into the back yard because Pedro had two very large dogs that I did not care for.
Pedro mentioned that he believed that there was a spirit that resided in the shed. He said his proof of this was that he had tried on a number of occasions to close the shed door. Well without fail the shed door was open within a day or so. Being the brave soul that I am, I announced that I was going to close the shed door once and for all.
Pedro tried to warn me that this was not a good idea and that I would anger the spirit that resided in the shed. I paid no attention. The crowd of friends that remained, which was probably about ten people, followed me into the back yard. Pedro and Paula went along and once we were out there Pedro controlled the dogs.
I looked inside the shed, which was wooden and very old. It was quite creepy. It resembled a very small house. I tried to close the door but the wood was very warped from rain and age I suppose. It was obvious to me that this was the reason that it had never stayed shut before. I decided that I would have to jam it shut. I took a shovel from our carport and carried it back to the shed. I jammed the door closed by kicking it with my foot and then shoved the handle under the knob. All the while Pedro stood behind me warning that this was not a good idea.
We all went back inside and finished up our party. I went to bed that not without a thought about it. Over the next few days the door remained closed and I felt satisfied that I had succeeded and that there was no spirit to worry about. I even bragged to some of our friends over the phone about the fact that I had proven Pedro wrong.
I awoke before dawn one day needing to use the bathroom pretty badly. I got out of bed and opened my door. As I was opening it I heard a strange scraping sound and was startled when I felt something heavy fall against my stomach. It was completely dark and I couldn't see what it was. I flicked the switch in my room and I looked down to see the shovel lying at my feet. My heart nearly jumped from my chest. I immediately started to cry from fright.
The shovel had been standing against my bedroom door in the hallway! I ran down the hall and woke my roommates. I demanded that they come clean about the prank that they had pulled on me. I could tell from the tears that Pedro shed from fear and the fact that he threatened both of us with eviction that he was not the culprit. He thought that we might be playing a trick on him! He was very superstitious. He was sure that I had angered this spirit.
My cousin swore that she had nothing to do with it and was very frightened by it. I made her swear on the bible that she did not put the shovel against my door. We investigated and noticed that there was no dirt trail from the back door to my door, as if the shovel had floated through the house. I never slept alone in that house again. I moved within 2 weeks. I see my cousin occasionally and she still swears that she had nothing to do with it.
I have never been so scared in my life.
The Coffee House Demons --by Jessica M.
In 1983, I was in a Christian coffee house when a young person came in demanding an exorcism. I helped hold him down as the leader prayed over him. There were four people holding him down as he lifted about 6 inches off the floor.
The demon left him, because I saw it writhing in a ceiling corner. It was a smoky three dimensional creature. I pointed and said the demon is in the ceiling corner, but no one believed me. The person went away happy and was never seen again.
The next week I went again and still saw the demon in the corner. I told the leader, but he still did not believe me. That night a strange preacher, who had never attended before, was there offering healings. He told me he could lengthen one of my legs. I know most people have one leg shorter than the other, so I did not take him up on his offer.
I went to a quiet room and sat there. After about an hour, I heard Jesus whisper "Get my child out of there." I went to the main room where there were many people crowding over a girl. They had spoken in tongues and had determined that this girl had been abused by an uncle, which was not true. But what was really scary was on each one of their shoulders I saw a demon, just like the one in the corner. I guess he had invited a few friends. Instead of getting the girl out of there, I fled.
That night I had a dream that I was walking to the coffee house, which I would have never done because it was at least 5 miles away. Before I got to the trailer where the coffee house was held, I saw the hand of God reach down, pick up the trailer, and shake it. One by one the leaders and other were falling to the ground. Then I awoke. That afternoon I went to lunch in the cafeteria, which I rarely did, and sat at a table with about seven others from this coffee house. It was quiet, so I started telling my dream and all but one of them had had the same dream. The one that didn't was one of the people that fell out of the coffee house.
A couple of weeks later, I was walking to the coffee house and got to the place where I was standing in my dream. I turned around and walked home. The next day, I found out that the coffee house was closed and that the coffee house leaders were being brought up on charges of spiritual abuse. The strange preacher was never seen after the night of the abuse, neither was the demon.
