Greenpeace Draws Ire for Nazca Stunt

Greenpeace Draws Ire for Nazca Stunt

Activists from Greenpeace could face serious legal ramifications for a surreptitious stunt at Peru's Nazca Lines. This past week, members of the environmental group entered a restricted area surrounding the legendary hummingbird geoglyph and composed a massive sign which endorsed renewable energy. While the message may have been well-intentioned, the Peruvian government contends that the unauthorized intrusion into the location damaged the previously pristine landscape and criminal charges may soon be filed against those who committed the clandestine deed. More on the story at the New York Times.
