HAARP's Neon Sky

HAARP's Neon Sky

(2)HAARP researchers created a neon light show by shooting intense radio beams into the night sky. The images (click for enlargement) from the HAARP Observatory show artificial "green speckle" emissions superimposed over the natural background aurora only during frames when the transmitter was on. Scientists speculate a similar technique could one day be used to light a city. The experiment was conducted March 10, 2004 and the results released Feb. 2, 2005 in the journal Nature.
