Plastinated Animals on Display

A new science exhibit, Body Worlds of Animals, opened Friday at the Cologne Zoo in Germany. The bizarre display features a selection of 20 animals that have been turned into statues through plastination. The process involves skinning the animal, and replacing its water and fat with plastic. The result is a fully preserved specimen that does not smell or decay. More photos at MSNBC.
