Transit of Venus

Transit of Venus

Starting at 10PM PDT, Venus began a 6-hour solar transit, as it passed directly between the Earth and the Sun. Appearing as a black dot across the surface of the sun, the passage was visible from Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as well for 2 hours on the East Coast of the U.S. The event could be viewed live on various webcasts posted on Space.com's Transit Headquarters or click here(1) to view an animation created by NASA.
