An image of young women working in an Irish linen mill at the turn of the 20th century appears to feature a creepy 'ghost hand' lurking on one of the worker's shoulder.
The image, taken in 1900, features the workers posing in their uniforms before starting their day was part of a feature put together by the website Belfast Live.
Seemingly a rather run-of-the-mill image, the photograph took on a different air after one of the descendants of the young women pointed out the strange anomaly.
The Belfast Live visitor marveled that her grandmother was one of the mill workers in the photo which she had seen before and asked, "did anyone spot the mysterious hand on the girl on the right’s shoulder?”
The question set off a small frenzy as other observers also spotted the unsettling disembodied 'hand' that was, indeed, resting on the shoulder of one of the workers.
And while it may be easy to dismiss it as simply an optical illusion, a closer look at the oddity only makes it appear even more to be a human hand (as you can see in the video above).
Perhaps, as with any group photo, there was one prankster to had to leave a lasting impression and, in this case, it just so happened to be a ghost.
