When Stars Collide

A crash between two young stars in the Orion constellation sparked a stellar fireworks display as giant streamers of dust and gas were sent into interstellar space at 335,540 mph. The cataclysmic event was captured by the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) telescope in northern Chile. The dramatic collision, which released as much energy as our Sun emits in 10 million years, could help scientists understand the turbulent beginnings of stars in our galaxy. More at Mail Online.
