'World's Ugliest Dog' for 2017 is Crowned

A Neapolitan Mastiff named Martha bested thirteen other competitors on Saturday to take home the title of 'World's Ugliest Dog' for 2017.

The three-year-old canine, who boasts an inordinate amount of skin on her face and drools excessively, captured the title at the 29th annual installment of the competition held in Petaluma, California.

The unsightly pooch is somewhat of a departure from previous winners in that, unlike those diminutive dogs, Martha weighs a whopping 125 pounds.

No doubt the dog's story of being adopted by her owner and needing a number of surgeries to restore her sight helped to win over the judges, who score the contestants based on their looks, personalities, and how the crowd responds to them.

By virtue of her win, Martha's owner received $1,500 as well as a monstrous trophy that stands five feet tall.
