Responding to an online challenge, Hungarian computer programmer Jozsef Fejes created a program which 'paints' a picture using a different color with each tiny pixel. The end result, which won the competition, was a breathtaking 4096 by 4096 pixel image that contains nearly 17 million different colors. Smaller images created by the program, like the one seen here, are equally remarkable for their beauty and design. Depending on how the program runs, the choice of which colors are used and where they are placed can be random or sequential, a process dubbed 'rainbow smoke' by Fejes. More here.
