Apollo 13 Monument Debuts

Filmmaker Steven Barber raised $750,000 to create a sculpture honoring the astronauts of the famed Apollo 13 mission. The bronze sculpture (pictured), created by George and Mark Lundeen and Joey Bainer, depicts the safe return of astronauts, Jim Lovell, Jack Swigert, and Fred Haise in April 1970. It recently debuted at its permanent home in Rocket Park at Space Center Houston. More on the statue here. Barber tells us that he is now working to develop a monument for Apollo 14 and Dr. Sally Ride, the first American woman in space.
