Fourth of July Galaxy

Today NASA released a spectacular image of a spiral galaxy called NGC 4258 (also known as M106). The impressive galactic firework display is produced from a giant black hole, shock waves, and large amounts of gas. The image is a composite of data from the NSF's Karl Jansky Very Large Array, Chandra X-ray Observatory, and the Hubble and Spitzer Space Telescopes. More details at Mail Online.
