Moon Shadow on Jupiter

article's image

Taking advantage of a rare clear March night over Northwest Washington state, I was fortunate to be able to capture this image of Jupiter with three of its four Galilean moons, one of which is casting its shadow on Jupiter. The Great Red Spot, a storm that has been raging on the planet for centuries with winds up to 400mph, is also visible to the right. About two planet Earths can fit inside the Great Red Spot.
